Traffic is slow but moving near Montage Mountain this evening as people made their way to a sold-out RailRiders game where a big name in baseball made an appearance and a concert on the mountain featuring Kid Rock.
Lackawanna County 911 dispatchers reported few problems around Montage Mountain this evening as an expected? 10,000 people arrived at PNC Field to see Derek Jeter play? with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and thousands more arrived to see Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker and Kool & the Gang.
The concert began at 6:45 p.m. at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain. The RailRiders began their game against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 7 p.m. Before the events, police officers were stationed along Montage Mountain Road to direct traffic.
When Jeter walked on the field for warmups tonight, he was greeted by cheering fans. Jeter autographed several items before heading onto the field. Jeter is expected to play at least five innings tonight, according to officials at the game.
